Bismillahi,
The biggest Hungarian Islam online community, the iszlam.com started in October 2009 a new Quran translation project. I am the leader of this project. Our work divides to 4 parts.
1. 4 sisters translate the English Quran translations to Hungarian language (We take the King Fahd Complex English translations, and also the Ali Ünal English Quran translation as basis. We are using the Ibn Kathir tafsir to the interpretation).
2. I am checking, editing and unifying the Hungarian translations made by our sisters.
3. My wife is checking the texts from Hungarian language point of view.
4. Dr. Adel Alsabahi will check the texts from Arabic language and from religious point of views insha Allah.
Our sisters could translate 750 ayas in 8 weeks since we started our Quran translation project, and I could check and unify 450 ayas in this time.
Together with the the earlier translated, and published texts we are finished the:
41% of the translation (2536 ayas)
21% of the editing, unifying (1326 ayas)
11% of the Hungarian language proofreading (669 ayas)
24 % of the religious proofreading (1488 ayas)
This is 24 % of the whole project.
The English translation, editing and unifying takes about 40 weeks insha Allah. The religious proofreading takes 40 weeks more insha Allah. This is altogether 80 weeks, ca. one and a half year insha Allah. This time we need, if we will get founds to our work. If not, it takes even more time.

The situation of the Hungarian Quran Translation in 2009
Bismillahi
Almost two years since I started this blog. The “Quran” situation is in Hungary even worth.
In Hungary at this time there is no full Quran translation. In some second-hand book shops you can buy the full translation of the Quran made by Robert Simon. However Robert Simon is not muslim, just a doctor of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, and for that reason he used the scientific, and not the religious interpretation of the Quran. For that reason this translation has a lot of religious error. The translation of Robert Simon was published 4 times at the Helikon publishing house in 1987, 1994, 1997, and last time in 2001. Since that time this book is shortage goods in the bookshops and in the second hand bookshops too. The publisher isn’t planning new edition from this book, coz the invested money got to slowly back. So we can say: today you can not buy (or get) a full Hungarian Quran translation.
There was a muslim translation made by Balázs Mihálffy, but this there is no more, and this edition had a lot of lingual and religious error too. (You can download here: http://mek.oszk.hu/06500/06534/ )
Some parts of the Quran you can read or download from the internet (for example: islam.com), but for a full Quran translation you have to wait.
One Hungarian Foundation and one Hungarian Community started the translation from the beginning in 2008, but at least three years finish the full job. There is more partly translated text at the Islam communities, but these translation are not ready for the publishing.

Hungarian translation of the meaning of the Glorious Quran
Bismillahi ar-rahmani ar-rahimi,
Salam alaykum wa rahmatullah,
My name is Zsombor Komaromi. I embraced Islam 4 years ago. With my wife, we are the webmaster of the biggest Hungarian Islam online website, the iszlam.com.
With my wife, we were active member of the Translator Office of the Hungarian Islam Congregation. We toke part in the publishing of more then ten Islamic books in Hungarian language. Those are:
1. The Hungarian translation of the meaning of the Quran (29-30 juz - the book contains the original Arabic, and the Hungarian translation too.)
2. Discover Islam – a popularizing book about Islam for the people who show interest in our religion. (100 pages) Download possibility:
http://iszlam.com/letoltheto-konyvek/432-fedezd-fel-az-iszlamot
3. The Hajj – a complete guide about performing a pilgrimage. (152 pages) Download possibility: http://iszlam.com/letoltheto-konyvek/436-a-zarandoklat
4. Mohammed (sav) the Messenger of God. (32 pages) Download possibility: http://iszlam.com/letoltheto-konyvek/437-mohammed-beke-legyen-vele-isten-kuldotte
5. The Hungarian translation of the meaning of the first three suras (Al-Fatiha, Al-Baqara, Aal-e-Imran) of the Noble Quran. (144 pages) Download possibility: http://iszlam.com/letoltheto-konyvek/89-koran-magyar-ertelmezes-forditasa-elso-harom-szura
(From the downloadable versions are missing some graphical layout elements to reduce the files sizes, but they are there are in the printed versions.)
We published our books from the donation of our brothers, and we are giving them free of charge to everyone, who shows interest in those issues.
Our publications fill a serious gap in Hungary, where there are just very few true to facts literature about Islam, and from religious point of view there is no accurate and complete translation of the meaning of the Noble Quran.
The Hungarian translation of the meaning of the first three suras, and the 29-30 juzz (67-114 suras) made by the Translator Office of the Hungarian Islam Congregation is roughly the quarter (25 %) of the complete Quran. We managed to translate this quarter in three years – glory and thanks for Allah. The three quarters (75 %) of the Hungarian translation must be brought to an end. We would like to ask for Your support to finish that important task in the next three years – if Allah wills. We need to do this, because Dr. Adel Ahmed Alsabahi, the chief and the main coworker of the Translator Office of the Hungarian Islam Congregation – if Allah wills – will finish his studies in Hungary in two years, and after that he would like to return to his native land. Without Dr. Adel Ahmad Alsabahi the translation on the present level would be halted for a very long time. We need your support, that our translator brothers could devote the main part of their time and work to this very important task.
The members of the Translator Office of the Hungarian Islam Congregation are doing their activity beside their daily work. In that activity the following people are taking part: 1 Arabic editor in chief with major religious knowledge; 1 editor; 1 Arabic literary adviser; 2 Hungarian literary advisers; a number of controllers.
With the participation of every member of the Translator Office of the Hungarian Islam Congregation – on the basis of our experience – we could finish the remaining part of our work (translation, revise, footnotes writing, etc.) in 2.5 years – if Allah wills. The cost of all this work is 35000 USD + VAT (23 juzz, 1500 USD/juzz).
The preparation of the printing (laying out, typography) would incur some further cost. The final book is going to be published in B5 (176x250 mm) format – if Allah wills. In that format the translation of the meaning of the Noble Quran with the original Arabic text and with the footnotes would be 650 pages. The preparation of the printing would cost 12 USD/page, about 8000 USD+VAT, and take 3 months.
Summarized: the total cost of the translation, verification, stylistic revision, laying out and typography would be 43000 USD (+ VAT).
With Your support we could start our work, and the dream of the Translator Office of the Hungarian Islam Congregation and every Hungarian Muslim would come true: in 3 years – if Allah wills – we would publish the translation of the meaning of the whole Noble Quran.
We look forward to your support
May Allah bless you
